Announcement | Program | Directions | Lodging and Group Meals
This year, the Annual Regional Group Theory Conference is to be held at Binghamton University on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22. As you may know, this conference represents a continuation of the series of Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences which are held in alternate years in Granville, Ohio, with the group-theorists meeting in the intervening years at various universities throughout the region.
This is an announcement of the meeting. If you are interested in attending, please inform either of us by letter or by e-mail. The program will begin on Friday morning and conclude on Saturday evening.
In case you need a more formal letter of invitation in order to obtain funds from your institution, please let us know. Also inform us if you know of any others who are interested in this conference, and we gladly will mail them this announcement.
We look forward to your early reply and we hope to see you in May.
Sincerely,
Ben Brewster: ben@math.binghamton.edu
Luise-Charlotte Kappe: menger@math.binghamton.edu
Here are the program and the alphabetical list of speakers.
There is an airport here, while Syracuse Airport is approximately a ninety minute drive.
Here are directions to the department; here are small-scale and large-scale (legible) campus maps. For directions to the two selected motels, see below
Parking: On Friday, go to Lot W, the visitors' pay lot ($2.50/day). On Saturday you can park free on any legal spot on campus.
Directions from Lot W to Science I: From the parking lot, walk straight to the North, with the library to your right and the Lecture Hall building to your left, past the sundial. The next building on your left is Science I. For all those who were here in '93, it is the same building where we met at the last meeting.
We have secured reduced rates at two motels in the area. You should make your own room arrangments. You will receive the special rate by mentioning the ``Groups 99 Zassenhaus Conference.'' Each will give the rate of $47.95 single or $53.95 double.
We are planning an evening buffet Friday and a luncheon buffet on Saturday. There is a soccer tournament on campus that weekend. Some might prefer to get out and watch soccer, while others may wish to dine in and avoid the local crowds. E-mail, not later than Monday May 17, to Ben Brewster if you want to have the Friday banquet or the Saturday luncheon buffet (cold cuts, salad, breads.
