Various software applications are very useful in many parts of Mathematics. In particular the programs Maple, Mathematica and Matlab can do many calculations, both numeric and symbolic, and can be used to generate high quality graphs. All three programs are available on various University computers. They are also available for purchase at very reasonable student rates. You are not required to use any such programs, but anyone studying or using advanced mathematics will eventually find them indispensable.
