The Calc 2 Help Room (LN-2216) will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of finals week,
from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

If you have a final exam conflict, send the following to the course coordinator by Friday, May 1st: Once a make-up final is scheduled, you will be informed of the date and time via e-mail.

Basic Information


Prerequisite

: A passing grade in Calculus I is required, but a grade of C or better is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Historical data suggests that students who get a D in Calculus 1 usually end up with an F in Calculus 2.

Office Hours

: Some instructors will hold office hours in their own office. Other instructors will hold them in the Calculus Help Room. Here is the schedule for the Help Room. Any Calculus 2 student will be helped in the Help Room by any of the TAs holding office hours there.

The course will include most of the material in chapters 7 through 12 as follows:

11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, 11.5

Calculator Policy

No electronic computing device, e.g. calculators or laptop computers, will be allowed on exams. However, students are encouraged to bring scientific calculators to class, and use them for some homework problems.

Exams

There will be 3 tests and a final exam. Tests 1 and 3 will be given separately for each section. Test2 (a.k.a. Midterm) and the final exam are cumulative, common to all sections, and given at the same time.

Test 3 Friday April 24
Final exam   Wednesday  May 13 GE-107   7:00-9:00 p.m.

Content:

A detailed content of each exam will be announced and posted a week before the exam. However, we expect it to be roughly as follows:
Test 1 7.1, 7.2*, 7.3*, 7.4*, 7.5, 7.6, 7.8
Midterm(cumulative) 7.1-6, 7.8, 8.1-5, 8.8
Test 3 12.1-11, 9.1-2
Final exam(cumulative)   7.1-6, 7.8, 8.1-5, 8.8, 12.1-11, 9.1-2, 11.1-5, 10.3

Grading

The final exam will count for 40% of the course grade, and the midterm for 20%. The remaining 40% will come from tests 1 and 3, together with other items such as: quizzes, homework, class participation, trend (patterns in the grades as the semester progresses; for example, steady improvement is good, but a weak final exam is bad), etc.

Exam Conflicts

If you are unable to take an exam and have a valid reason, e.g. medical emergency, you should contact your instructor ahead of time to explain the reason and provide appropriate proof. Make-up tests will be given only to those who have a valid reason to miss it.

Check your final exams schedule to see if you have any conflicts. If you have such a conflict, you should tell your instructor about it at the start of the semester.

Homework Problems

Each instructor will assign homework problems. This list of problems should be considered as a guideline for minimum work to be done.

Class Attendance

Regulaar attendance is required to be successful in this course. Lack of attendance will most likely result in a lower grade.

Academic Honesty

Cheating is considered a very serious offense. According to the University Catalog: "Cheating on Examinations: Giving or receiving unauthorized help before, during or after an examination".

The full strength of Binghamton Academic Honesty Policy will be applied to anyone caught cheating. This may include failing the course, and further disciplinary action.
