TITLE: Adaptive estimation of the integrated square of a density.

Abstract

A very simple way of optimally estimating the integrated square of a density with unknown but relatively weak smoothness properties is proposed. The treatment of the bias with elementary Fourier analytic techniques, and that of the variance with sharp U-statistic bounds seem to be new. this is joint work with Richard Nickl.
