Title: Linked Spheres in Oriented Matroids

Abstract: A fundamental conjecture of oriented matroid theory is the Triangulation Conjecture. Loosely put the Triangulation Conjecture describes how well an oriented matroid models the convexity data of a finite set of points in Euclidean space. This talk will discuss how the Triangulation Conjecture reduces to a question on whether certain spheres in the topological representations of oriented matroids are linked. The speaker will make a frank plea for collaboration from her colleagues who know more about linking than herself.
