In the context of the E.O.P. pre-freshman summer program at SUNY Binghamton, I have used various types of writing assignments as part of the structure and assessment of the math classes I have taught.
In this talk, I want to present my rationale for using this learning tool, some assignments I have given, as well as some of the successes and failures I have experienced over the years.
