The ABC Seed Company and the ACME Seed Company each claim to provide the better corn seed to their customers; that is seed which produces a higher yield in bushels of corn per acre. In order to determine which seed is better (or whether they are both the same), a statistician is hired to design and conduct an experiment.
The main objective of my talk will be to answer the question:
Is it important to use a chance process (such as flipping a coin or rolling a die) to decide on a design ?
Although my talk concerns a topic in probability and statistics, no expertise in these subjects is required.
This talk is accessible at all levels.
