PFF visit to Oneonta. Friday April 7, 2000.
By Constant Goutziers
The visitors from SUNY Binghamton, including two faculty, arrived in the middle of the afternoon. Among other things, we talked about undergraduate seminars and their integration in the mathematics curriculum. Our chairman, Dr. Alex, answered questions regarding staffing in our department, and the make-up of the student body. At 4:00p.m. Zoran Sunik entertained us with a presentation on discrete dynamical systems, titled "No You Cannot Get There From Here". Zoran eloquently introduced the audience to some elementary techniques for acquiring orbit information. He left us with an extensive list of examples, each of which has the potential of serving as "math problem of the month". We ended the afternoon with a casual dinner at a location close to the College.
